I found a recording engineer who played guitar, bass and some keyboards on the first 6 songs, in addition to myself on drums and David on vocals. This was finished in his home studio in 2012 and I decided to expand the recordings into a full album, with additional songs I had written.
I also invited David and the recording engineer to add their own compositions, to fill out the album and add variety to the musical style.
The first pass of these recordings was finished in 2014. From 2015 forward, I worked with a different studio and engineer to finalise production and mastering, where additional instrumentation was also added. There was some time lag between these two bodies of work, and the full album was finally ready for release in 2017.
During the recording process, the songs were copyrighted for intellectual property ownership at Artisjus in Budapest. I also needed a name under which to release the music, and I chose BackFoot as the brand name. I chose the title ‘Running Behind Time’ for the album, as it had taken me that length of time playing music before finally releasing my own album 😊.
There was one more important task before the music could be officially released. That was to create a trademark for the BackFoot name and logo. A friend of mine who put together the first website version, also made the logo drawing according to my specifications (feel free to send comments and thoughts on the logo 😊).
I then registered a trademark for the name and logo at the EU Intellectual Property Organisation (EUIPO).
From 2018, all BackFoot songs were released on web-shops and media outlets (for this purpose I’m in partnership with an aggregator company called Horus), and thereafter I began marketing activities.
