BackFoot Beginnings and First Songs

In 2011, I joined a tribute / covers band as temporary replacement drummer. The three other band members had written one or two original numbers each. My wife said why don’t I write my own songs as well. I dismissed the idea at first, not having previously thought of myself as a songwriter. But somehow the thought must have taken hold, as I started coming up with melodies, musical progressions, and lyrics.

Initially I presented some fragments of my ideas to the other guys in the band, and they liked what I presented. From there we made the first rough practice versions of two of my songs. As my stint with the band was coming to an end, I decided I wanted to make studio recordings of my first few songs.

The singer with the band was David Zalinian, who agreed to be vocalist on my studio recordings.

Stay tuned for my next blog post about the first BackFoot recordings and releases..... 😊
